Join the Community Energy Revolution

Energy powers modern life, and if you have solar panels, you're already generating your own. But some people go even further – creating and saving energy at a community scale.
Across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, community renewable energy projects are thriving, led by determined groups overcoming technical, financial, and planning challenges. Explore successful projects here and here.
Now, with four years of National Lottery funding, the Energy Learning Network (launched in late 2024) is helping more groups decarbonise the grid and deliver real benefits to local communities. Learn more.
Why Community Energy Matters
“Community energy refers to the delivery of community-led renewable energy, energy demand reduction and energy supply projects, whether wholly owned and/or controlled by communities or through a partnership with commercial or public sector partners.” Community Energy England.
Public support for community renewables is growing as these poll results show, and funding is available for feasibility studies through Midlands Net Zero Hub (MNZH). Derbyshire Dales Community Energy has also compiled a list of successful and developing initiatives.
