Creating Safer, Healthier, Quieter Communities

Across our area, communities, businesses, and individuals are making sustainable transport a reality – leading to cleaner air, safer streets, and easier, more enjoyable journeys.

Discover smarter travel options

One inspiring example is Hope Valley Climate Action's Travelling Light initiative in High Peak. Their mission? To decarbonise travel through inclusive, scalable solutions.

Local Tourism Businesses: Leading the Way

Amongst many initiatives in Hope Valley, interviews with five fabulous local tourism businesses show how beneficial and satisfying they have found it to support sustainable travel for their visitors.

A pub, B&B, hotel, self-catering accommodation, and outdoor activity provider have taken simple, low-cost steps to help visitors leave their cars at home, or in the car park for the duration of their stay – proving that sustainable travel is both ethical and economically smart.

Cleaner Air for People & Pollinators

We know walking and cycling benefit health, and cleaner air isn’t just good for humans. Pollution disrupts pollinators – a study found that flowers in polluted air received 90% fewer bee visits!
